Calle de Matanzas, a street with history in Barcelona

A neighborhood with history

Carrer de Matanzas is located in the neighborhood of Los Indians, north of Barcelona. This area was known for its great cultural activity and for being the destination of many Catalan emigrants, especially from Vilanova i la Geltrú, with which it is twinned. The first attempt to urbanize the neighborhood of the Indians took place in 1895, when some owners of the area, Manuel and Pedro Romaní and Andreu Lluís and Pere Oliva, requested the opening of the current streets of Matanzas, Jordi de Sant Jordi and Pinar del Rio.
